Christmas for the Puppies

It has been too long since our last update... I suppose that is what happens when I get busy.

The collies are doing well. They are almost finished with their heartworm treatments.

Before

Then

Now

They look so much better and happier. They are always together, so it's not just coincidental posing. Robby was a little scaredy-cat in the first picture, but he's not like that now. Their personalities shine like the morning sun. It is hard to believe these two were put in the shelter to begin with. They are potty trained, and they are very smart (though very sweet is often misinterpreted as dumb). When I got the call to go get them, I was told the collie rescue in that direction didn't have any open spots for them. They were ten years old and the shelter had shaved their fur, obviously both would make it difficult for people to see past during adoptions. I took a chance on them and here they are. Two months after I got these two, the same shelter called and said they have an 8-10 month old. I said I would be able to pick her up in the following week. Guess what, that same full rescue (with no adoptions placed from their homes) they suddenly had an opening. Hmmm... At least the poor dear isn't in the shelter any more.

Terry bought me a GPS! HELLO EASY DIRECTIONS! I'm so excited!

The shelties are doing well. I have already enrolled Ellie and Shaine in an obedience Class starting in January. After that class, we are going to start agility training. We have been working a little at home, but it's not consistent enough to be ring ready by fall. That is our hope is to be completely ready be fall or winter. Shaine already has a leg in Novice JWW. He could do it, but we need to perfect.

I suppose that is it for now. More posts next year! :) Happy New Year!

A Little Pupdate

Jatita's website is now finished, other than a few paragraghs. She has decided to change her kennel name to Camelot Isle since there was/is an already existing Camelot kennel.

The shelties are doing great! We have a couple of shows lined up, now that I have a job, it's more likely I can afford one. Terry is on a waiting list for a Black and Tan Coonhound puppy from a very respectable breeder, and I think we are going to have a lot of fun with her.

I have been very busy lately with keeping my house clean behind my little boy and my husband. It's a little tiring having two full-time jobs, ya know? We women who have families know this truth well.

A couple of weeks ago I groomed up a sheltie from our area. He was so cute, but the owner learned the hard way why puppymills are not a good choice. Of course, she didn't exactly have any one to point her in the right direction in the beginning, so I do not blame her at all. I think the media is an excellent choice to educate the public with, but no one ever wants to take the time to write about it. He had the cutest name, too. He didn't quite like getting groomed at first, but he got used to it once Mom wasn't in the same room as us. He is as sweet as can be, and just loves his momma. The weird thing is, he looked and acted JUST LIKE Skipper. I was astonished with the likeness considering the two are not at all related.

Well, it's almost Luke's bedtime, gotta get him ready for bed. Good night all. If I don't have a blog later, I hope for the best Thanksgiving wishes to ALL! :) And stay safe this holiday season.

Work in Progress

I have made adjustments to Janita's website (Camelot Shelties) in the past couple of days. Some you may have seen, others you haven't. I have made (with the glorious photoshop) two beautiful backgrounds that smoothly flow with the Camelot theme. I have also created new buttons for site navigation, but all will be seen in time. I am so proud of my work, to say the least.

October 23, 2009

Heyo!

Take a look at Janita's puppy page! I made a new logo (requested) to make it into a nursery page, but still keeping the "camelot" theme. I also made sure the background of the table didn't clash with the background of the logo. OH! That was annoying, but I finally fixed it. If you don't know her website, look up Camelot Shelties on google. Don't forget to bookmark it! :)

New Products!

JEWELRY! I have uploaded more jewelry for sale. If you are looking to buy, the Jewelry page has a list of prices for each peice that is listed for sale. These works of art are unique and one-of-a-kind you will find no where else! If you want to buy something, DON'T wait. More than likely, I will never have another peice like it available. The penguin bracelets can be duplicated in almost every color, so if you are wanting one in a specific color, let me know! There will always be more to come! :~)

HEY!

We have had a pretty good month so far. The pups are doing well, and it seems the dogs are getting more and more active every day. We have a couple of guests here for a while. Their names are Lizzy and Robby. Lizzy and Robby are very sweet collies who love a good petting, like other dogs, and love my boy (Lucas). They mostly like to take naps since they are both over ten years old.

Well, we'll update more later. Today I am going to Darlene's to order some beads.

New: Jewelry

Darlene Edwards, my sister-in-law, has me hooked on beading jewelry. The problem is we are making too many things for us to know what to do with so we decided to sell them. We are going to get a new order of beads in a couple of weeks so we will have more products up. I should be able to reproduce anything that is on my jewelry page, as long as we can find the beads. If you are interested in ordering, tell me if you want a necklace, bracelet, anklet, or earrings, and I need a measurement of how big it needs to be.
We will soon have charm bracelets available, and samples will be pictured. Jewelry ranges between $5.00 and $25.00.

Yesterday's Training Session & Other Stuff

I have been slacking on updating my own website, so let me give an update of what has been going on since then. First, my good friend and website editor looked over my website, and fixed it to sound better. She also made sure all words were spelled correctly. Lord knows I have horrible spelling, but at least I have it checked. I also have a video up of Shaine and Ellie working agility yesterday. We were working on a little distance, go-out, and switch back. It was Ellie's first time to jump 16", so she was a little hesitant to try it, but she did well. Now we need to work on consistency. What we really need is to get her in an agility class, but we are going to have to wait until fall to get into it so it's cool enough. I may as well get Shaine in it too so we can get our kinks worked out. He's confident in the video, but if you see in the December Paw Prints trial, you'd see he's not as confident anywhere else. I also need to buy a set of jumps to travel everywhere with to practice. Soon.

I recently bought a wooden tack box. I expect it to be here in about a week's time. I also bought some Brown Sugar Baby powder, though I haven't gotten any information on the transaction going through...

EDIT: I JUST GOT SHAINE'S PICTURE! YAY!

Drug Detection

Ellie just keeps amazing me every time I turn around. We went to the park today to work on her on-lead behavior as well as let Luke walk around and play on the swings. As soon as we parked the car and rolled the windows down, Ellie started just acting WEIRD. She had never done anything like that before. She was just anxious and wouldn't sit still. At first, I thought it was just the kids running around and sliding on the play sets. I was just trying to comfort her and move on. We got to a really small stone bridge that runs over a three-foot wide creek, and Ellie would not stop spinning. I just ignored her for a moment and took a look around to see what might be setting her off. I saw by the creek, a small black bag hidden in plain sight behind a tree, and about a hundred feet away sat some guy in an old rugged car. He was just sitting there. I knew whatever was in that bag was making Ellie go CRAZY. I pretended there was nothing of it, comforted Ellie, and tried to act normally. I let Luke play on the swings for a couple of minutes, then we got out of there. As soon as I started leaving, I called the police to report a suspicious bag. I didn't hang around to figure out what it was or what was in it, but I talked to Mom, and she said it was probably a drug drop. DUH! That would be a good reason to make Ellie act so strangely. Maybe I should get Ellie into tracking... I LOVE ELLIE! I praised and praised her when we got in the car and back home.

Just A Quick Update...

to let everyone know Darlene (co-owner of Ellie) and I have decided to take a break from conformation with Ellie. She needs to mature a little bit with a little more training before she is ring ready. We'll also be working with her on free-stacking. Of course, we are also going to focus on agility and obedience work. It should help our conformation training by toning her muscles.

Great weekend! Mostly...

So Terry went with me so he could meet his coonhound breeder. Regretfully, she never drove in because her A/C went out. Terry was bummed, but then Sunday rolls around and Shaine takes WD! I was so glad Terry was there to see us win. He was so proud of Shaine, and I am still proud of him. The judge was a funny one while we were waiting for pictures. He was making jokes and picking on the winners of groups. I can't wait to get the pictures in and have them uploaded on the Internet! I'm so excited because he looked the best he ever has, and I received so many compliments of how beautiful he is.
I also have a couple of people on a puppy waiting list. They have been researching shelties for about nine months, and the most information she was given was by me at that show. I introduced her to a couple of breeders, but she insists she wants a blue merle. Ellie was the only blue merle there, so she didn't exactly have any other options. If she e-mails me and asks for another breeder that has AOAC puppies on the ground, I would recommend her to a couple I know of right now. She only wants one for pet, and I'm just not certain I'll have anything she is looking for. Ellie's puppies are going to be high strung (no doubt) and will probably have to be placed in performance homes.
We have high standards set for Shaine in Future shows!

Visit New Website!

So I am at a stopping point for Janita's website (http://www.camelotshelties.com) GO SEE IT! It took almost all day for me to get to this point. There are still some pages that need to be worked on, but that's up to Janita. When she gets me the rest, the rest will be available to view. YAY! I'm excited. I also enjoy comments (if any) because I tend to get bored during the days of summer.

You may look at my updates and see I updated my own website today, but not realize what exactly I changed. The main thing I have changed is music and the labels for any one who was listed on my website that has titles at the end of his (yep, all guys) names.

Lucas says, "Hello." He's grabbing the keyboard from me. Anyway, enjoy the updates I have provided, and I'll probably see some of my audience at the show this weekend. :)

Sunday of the Show

Regretfully, the show itself was a real bummer. I am happy I ended being able to get on the Internet at the show site. I should have tried that all along. I uploaded all pictures to my website, but I didn't get the links up until after I got home. Actually, I just finished getting the page set-up. I have updating to do for several websites. (Sorry Janita, I've been trying to figure out why my computer cannot view the pictures you sent me.) Mom's will be finished some time tomorrow for sure. Congrats to her, BTW. Her youngest girl (8 months old) took Reserve Winners Bitch on Saturday!

I have Shaine and Ellie entered in Little Rock's dog show. I hope to have better luck there than we had this past weekend. We may get more pictures, but we will definitely have more video. Terry and I are trying to figure out how we are going to get all four of our dogs plus him, my son, and me to the show without using two different vehicles. In my little car, it may come to be impossible, so we will probably find a baby sitter for Luke. Terry wants to be there to meet the breeder of is future coon hound.

Oh, man... I am so tired. Off to bed for me!

Today at the Dog Show

Hello all. I thought I would give every one an update from today's show. First and foremost, I am staying at a Motel 6 here, in Longview, I do NOT recommend to any one. The service is bad, and the people are rude.
The show, however, went as well as could be expected with a naked girl and a boy going up against a few more than nice quality competition. Shaine took his class against two nicer males, which really had me excited, but when he went in against two equally nice males, he was not even given a glance.
Ellie acted as usual. The obnoxious wild girl just prancing and trying to go everywhere simply took her class. That was no feat considering she was the only one who showed. She had competition that did not show. She has grown a little more since I showed her last in Texarkana, but she is still considered naked to the trained eye, lol. Ellie was not entered in tomorrow's competition, but wish Shaine and me luck for tomorrow!

Another Exciting Day!

So we practiced agility today, and I actually got video of it. I felt we needed help with our footwork (mine and the pups) so I can figure out how to handle Ellie. She is very sensitive to my body language, and often exaggerates my expressions. I will simply turn my shoulder (so I'm used to) and she'll run to the opposite end of the yard from where I was trying to send her. Ellie is also the fastest of my shelties I have ever worked with, and it is going to be a challenge to get her in shape. Agility and even obedience wise, she really does work like a border collie. Herding is where she shows her sheltie nature. You know the "run around and bark while the sheep run frantically the other direction" nature. Ellie says, "That's the fun part!"
Anyway, the video is up on YouTube. It is about 4 minutes long, and the majority of it is Ellie. Rose is really showing everyone she has potential. I, of course, already knew she had it.
The up and coming shows in the next month and a half ARE for a fact set in stone. I'll give the results when we get back. I can only hope they are good brags.

Agility/Conformation/Obedience

Lately I've been making new friends. It is a possibility I will be getting a bi-blue puppy girl from a kennel I highly respect and admire. If by some miracle she is mine for the taking, I will do my darnedest to travel the 22.5 hours one way by car to pick her up myself. Of course, this is a lot of dreaming, and there are a lot of factors to add into the equation.
I have also been training more in the performance venues, excluding herding. I had to Jerry-Rig three sequence jumps out of cinder blocks and broom sticks. You gotta do what you gotta do to get by. Mom is giving me a set of her weaves that she rarely uses any more. YAY! I also need to buy some wood to make a contact trainer for Ellie. She's been doing well with what little we have to work with. I'll get some video up later, and I'll try to get some pictures. I might need help to do that, but it's worth a shot.... ERIN!!!!! X~D
I have two conformation shows coming up that I will definitely be entering Shaine and Ellie. I also have two agility trials coming up next month, but I think I'll only enter the three-day trial in Ft. Worth. Whether I enter all three days depends on who else will be going. It also depends on if Terry (my wonderful husband) will take off work that Thursday and Friday. I have no obedience trials coming up yet. I'm only training for now. Ellie is ready to get her RN, but I want to perfect it before it is actually put into action.
Luckily, the majority of this blog is set on more than just wishful thinking. :) I WILL be at those shows, darn it.
You know, between this blog and the last, I prefer this one. It actually has a spell check, though it keeps saying conformation is spelled wrong, and it's suggestion is exactly the same. Another thing is I cannot add music to the HTML like I did with the other one. I could add it to a post on ever page. I suppose it's never going to be exactly right.

Today!

Today was hot. Too hot to do much outside, though we did work a little agility. When I say work a little agility, I mean VERY LITTLE! I did, however, get to take pictures. They are all posing pictures because we had to work to get them. I have them posted to my website, I just need to get a button set on the performance page so people can actually get to it. For now, I will be sure to post a link from the index page until I get it fixed up.

Ah

I finished bathing all four dogs last night at about 9:30. My suspicions were right, no one was willing to travel last night to work obedience. That's O.K. Terry bought Luke a pool to play in, and while they played in the pool, I bathed the dogs. It turned into a nice family evening outside in the scorching heat. The dogs do no like the pool, except for Ellie. She's the only one willing to get close enough to drink from, but (like the others) refuse to get in. That's just fine with me, I'd rather not have to bathe more than I have to.
I'll get some pictures today from working agility and stick them up on MySpace and the Performance page later. Have a nice day!

The Next Day

My website Editor, Tracie Doss, has told me after looking at other sheltie breeders' websites, she feels I should update mine a little bit and put up pedigrees. I informed her I once had pedigrees listed, but I decided to take them down. I inevitably was convinced to put them back up, but I only did for my show dogs, not the older two. I have actually lost the ones for Rose and Skipper anyway. I could always order them from AKC, but why waste the money on the two I am not going to breed? I'm never going to breed Shaine, but I still put it up anyway in case some one wants to see it.
Have fun, while I bathe dogs today! This evening is supposed to be set aside for Obedience, but we'll see if any one is actually going to be there. Tomorrow we are going to work some agility, and Monday I plan on working obedience with or without every one else. :-)

Welcome to the New Blog!

As you can see, I have created a new blog for my web site. You can still have access to my old blog by simply following the link on this post. http://anukennels.net/blog.html However, you will not be able to come back here unless you type in the URL address or go back to the main web page. I ended up getting too many problems out of that blog, I decided it was best to change.

I have made a few updates to my website, though they are minuscule. I hope you like the new cursor I have chosen. It is the same one on my myspace, if any one has one and they would like to add me, just follow the link. http://myspace.com/lil_devil_oo1 I know the URL needs to be changed or something. I made it when I was in high school and never had the motivation to cancel and change it. Anyway, the profile is set to private, if you can see it, and you are not on my friends list yet, then I need to have a word with the admin.

I do have high hopes for the future of Anu Shelties! I have a while before I will get another puppy (wink wink), but I have set up plans for future shows. I have a new job, though it isn't exactly where I want to end up in six years, it is a start. I am still hoping I get a different position with a very permissible company. I plan on getting back in college this fall to finish my accounting degree. Wish me luck, I'll need it.
